November 2007 Snapshot
Lee DeForest of DeForest Marketing & Design Solutions Group came through once again with an ideal space for the November meeting. Thank you DeForest Group! And thanks also to our presenters, Bobby Jacob and Michael Gurley, for sharing their learning with the group.
Next meeting: Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 3pm. Details to follow.
Bobby Jacob continued his trek through Agile Web Development with Rails. Some of the most valuable portions of Bobby’s presentation came from the back & forth interaction with the audience. This gave Bobby a chance to step off the beaten path and dig into some of the more exotic features of Ruby and Rails.
Michael Gurley showed us Modern Agenda, an app he has written (and continues to write) in Rails. While expanding the app, Michael decided to add maps. This led him to study ways to integrate Modern Agenda with Google maps. He’s broken the map-integration process into steps available here. Other useful resources include GoogleMapsBook.com and the GeoKit plugin page.
